Design elements from page 231 DW CS3

1. Tracing Images are tools that a designer can use to replicate a certain layout with their own content. It acts as a blueprint for where items are to go, and is visible in desgin veiw only. The author of the site is able to set text clues so they can predetermine what goes where.

2. AP Div tags are used when an author or designer has an absolute position for a certain item. They are not affected by other items on a page and can be placed anywhere without worrying about interference with other page elements. This can be used if a web designer wants to layer a design item.

3. Tables are used to give structure and organization to a group of ideas or images. It consists of rows and columns as well as content areas and headers. As you can see below it makes things look neat and organized in the way they display on a web page.

I like this site because it is easy to navigate and it is easy to see what links will take you to certain places you want to go. There is not a lot of clutter but there is a lot on the page.

Fashion Flubs Website

Go Fug Yourself (Fashion Mistakes)

Layout - Top Header

http://www.gofugyourself.com/

This web site is very well organized and it's text and links are large enough to read easliy but they dont overtake the page. Everything is very uniform and follows a good CSS format.

Marco's Homepage

I am biased when it comes to this site because it is one I have helped work on for my job. I like the organization and the colors work well.

Fox News Homepage

Fox News

This site has a lot of information on it and it is well organized without being cluttered. The headlines and links get the point across about what the page's stories are about.

Course Compass

My Econ. Lab

Layout - 3D Design

http://www.myeconlab.com

I have some dislikes on this page even though I have to use it a lot. I dont like how I have to search for what Im looking for. There are many places to log-in but they are mostly down in the lower corners of the page instead of being the first thing. It should also not inlcude liks for the teacher portal on the student page. That doesnt make sense to me.

Forum on ASP.Net

ASP.Net Forum

Layout - Top Header

http://forums.asp.net

I like the set-up of this page but when trying to use the forum itself it gets a little dilluted and causes too much wait time. Everytime I post something it tells me what I posted by sending me an email. I only want email's from the responses I recieve. I do not want to get my own posts and there is not a way to turn that off without turning off emails completely.

People Magazine

People Magazine

Layout - Top Header

www.people.com

I am a gossip fanatic and a celebrity fanatic as well. I like People magazine but their web pages have really ugly colors and they are jumbled and cluttered.

w3schools homepage

w3schools

Layout - Classic Inverted L Shape

www.w3schools.com

I like the look and organization of this website but I wish that it would give the breadcrumb links at the top of the page so you can tell where you came from to get to where you are. Someitmes I get lost and have to go back to the home page and find my way back in.

Google Hompage

Google

Layout - No Interface, Just White Space

www.google.com

I dont like it because it is really plain. With all the resources that Google has, I would think that they could make the site a bit more attractive.
